The value of a focused intention
I, Marieke, went on a trip this month to reconnect with myself and recharge. But I had formulated my intention very broadly, or rather vaguely.
My intention was: “I want to receive and go with the flow.”
Well, I got exactly that. I started off really well, but after that I went in all directions. I completely lost myself. I received a lot and had to go with the flow a lot too, but this wasn’t what I had hoped for or what I needed. I came out of the trip frustrated and exhausted. I often give the advice to set a focused intention, and I hadn’t done it myself.
I decided to take another short trip the next morning. I felt like I still had some unfinished business. That morning I looked very deliberately at what I truly wanted and needed.
My intention became: “I want to connect with myself, recharge, and be able to close myself off to others when needed.”
And that’s what I got. Afterwards, I felt recharged and back on track.
After this experience, I became so aware again of the value of a focused intention and how much influence we, as human beings, have on the direction we take. Not only on a trip, but also in our lives.
What is your intention for today?
