The value of a clear intention
This month, I, Marieke, went on a journey to reconnect with myself and recharge. The only thing was — I had set my intention very broadly, or let’s say, vaguely.
My intention was: “I want to receive and go with the flow.”
Well, I certainly experienced that. I started off well, but soon I went in every direction. I completely lost myself. I received a lot and had to go with the flow constantly, but this wasn’t what I had hoped for or what I truly needed. Frustrated and exhausted, I came out of the journey.
I often give advice about setting a focused intention, yet this time, I hadn’t followed my own guidance.
The next morning, I decided to take a small journey again. I felt there was still some “unfinished business.” That morning, I took a very focused look at what I really wanted and needed.
My intention became: “I want to connect with myself, recharge, and be able to set boundaries with others when needed.”
And that’s exactly what I received. Afterward, I felt recharged and back on track.
This experience reminded me of the true value of a focused intention — and how much influence we, as human beings, have over the direction we take. Not just in a journey, but in life itself.
What is your intention for today?
